In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we have to talk avocados! Avocados are so nutritious and healthy for you. Believe it or not they contain more potassium than bananas. Avocados are loaded with heart healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and they are loaded with fiber. Studies have shown that eating avocados can lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels. So what are you waiting for, start today.
Some of my favorite ways to enjoy avocados are of course in a salad or sliced on a sandwich. Next time instead of a BLT ( bacon, lettuce & tomato) , try a ALT ( avocado, lettuce & tomato)
A great way to start the day, try a slice of Ezekiel bread with an egg and sliced avocado or ezekiel bread with some almond butter and sliced avocado. Avocados are a great addition to your smoothie and they also make a great salad dressing, not to mention my all time favorite guacamole! Next time you want a simple side to accompany your grilled fish or chicken, try making a avocado salsa, with lime, mangos, roasted corn and some cilantro ~ Enjoy!
