Smoothie Time

Smoothies are refreshing and nutritious year round but in the summer they are especially good because of the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Research has shown that people feel happier, calmer and more positive when they consume smoothies with fresh fruit and vegetables. Summer is the perfect time to visit your local farmers market, the possibilities are endless. I have a Vitamix blender and I use it every day either making a breakfast smoothie or a lunch smoothie. For me the greener the better. Here’s some of my favorites.

Chocolate Mint Smoothie

  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • a handful of spinach
  • 3-4 stalks of mint
  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder
  • 1 cup of ice

Strawberry Banana

  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • a handful of spinach
  • 3-4 strawberries
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup of ice

Cucumber Basil Smoothie

  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • a handful of spinach
  • 1 small cucumber
  • 1 handful of basil
  • 3-4 stalks of mint 
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 cup of ice
