We are at the midway point of the summer and many of us are looking forward to vacation. There has been much debate lately in the news about the use of sunscreen or should I say overuse and many people being vitamin D deficient.
Vitamin D is essential for bone health. Recent research suggests it may have other benefits, too, such as protecting against colds and fighting depression.
However, if you don't spend enough time in the sun or if your body has trouble absorbing the vitamin, you may not get enough. Vitamin D is important in the regulation of calcium and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth.
I am not suggesting you forgo using sunscreen, but allowing a little sun to warm you body and infuse your body with vitamin D just may be a healthy choice for you. Be open to the possibilities and the warmth of the sun.
