This summer has been a hot one. When the temperatures rise, getting enough to drink is important whether you’re playing sports, traveling or just sitting in the sun.
Thirst isn’t the best indicator that you need to drink. If you get thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. The easiest thing to do is pay attention to the color of your urine. Pale and clear means you’re well hydrated. If it’s dark, drink more fluids.
Water is the best choice. It’s important if you are exercising, to drink before and during exercise. Afterwards, choose a healthy snack such as fruit or nuts. As they say, try to keep ahead of the game!
