As the nights get a bit cooler, it’s only natural that you will look for a soothing hot drink. Instead of reaching for sugary hot coco or acoffee latte loaded with sugar, try some hot tea.
Real tea is derived from a particular plant (Camellia sinensis) and includes only four varieties: green, black, white, and oolong. Anything else (like herbal “tea”) is an infusion of a different plant and isn’t technically tea, although it is still a great choice. Studies have found that some teas may help with cancer, heart disease, and diabetes; encourage weight loss, lower cholesterol; and bring about mental alertness. Tea also appears to have antimicrobial qualities.
With all the different varieties and flavors of tea, there really is no need to add sugar, honey or milk to enjoy it. If you do need milk, try using a lighter version either skim milk or almond milk.
